I began my career at Desert Vista High School in 1995-96 as a baseball coach. In 1996, I was hired to teach in the Special Education Department. In 2001, I joined the Guidance Department and was the Class of 2005 Counselor, Testing Coordinator, and NCAA Clearinghouse Coordinator.Our students have a wide variety of academic, athletic and extracurricular opportunities to choose from at MSK. They can perform in the annual school musical, for example, play sports on our beautiful fields, become ‘makers’ in Design Shop or learn how to use a 3D printer. Each principal acknowledged the mis-sion statement as the guiding force when making decisions. At one of the schools, the teachers developed the mission statement for their particular building and the principal recited it on the public announcement system each morning. In addition to setting yearly goals based on school data, curriculum map- Dr Miles Russell is principal academic in prehistoric and Roman archaeology at Bournemouth University and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries (London). He has worked as a field officer and project manager for the UCL Field Archaeology Unit, the Oxford Archaeological Unit and Bournemouth Archaeology on sites across the UK, the Isle of Man, Germany, Sicily and Russia..
